Editorial Policy
Every guide on this site is researched with software assistance and then reviewed, corrected and finished by a human before it is published. Nothing goes live on autopilot.
How our guides are made
We use research tools, including AI assistance, to gather and organise information: bottle specifications, cask types, typical UK prices, and the broad consensus of published reviews. A human editor then checks the facts, adds their own judgement and verdicts, and approves the final piece. The byline "with research assistance" on our posts means exactly that.
What we promise
- We never invent tasting experiences. When we describe a whisky's flavour from research rather than our own glass, we say so ("typically described as…"). First-person verdicts are genuinely first-person.
- Prices are approximate. UK whisky prices move constantly, so we write "around £X" and link to retailers for the live price. Buttons say "check price" because that is what they do.
- Recommendations are not for sale. Affiliate commissions (see our affiliate disclosure) never decide what we recommend. If we are ever paid for a review, the page will say so clearly, and the opinion stays our own.
- We fix mistakes. If you spot an error, tell us and we will correct the page and note the update.
